This October, Solace therapists collaborated in sharing their experience and expertise by producing a suite of professional skill share demonstrations on the following subjects:
- Supporting refugee students through group-work and staff training in schools
- Working with Children in Schools
- Working systemically with resettled refugee families
They presented these sessions at Migration Yorkshire’s inaugural Children and Families Conference. The conference, held on Zoom, attracted over 100 participants mainly from across Yorkshire and the Humber region, but some from further afield.
In addition to the professional presentations, we were delighted to hear from two families, both resettled families with school aged children, who told us about their experience of working with Solace, and what has improved for them following our support. Through interpreters, they both told us about the positive changes that Solace’s intervention had brought about for the children, their relationships with schools, and in turn their household. It was particularly celebratory to meet a new born arrival into one of the families.
