An introduction to Stress & Trauma, Vicarious Trauma and Vicarious Resilience

The trauma we bear witness to in our work, directly or indirectly, undoubtedly affects us. The purpose of this training is to understand how it affects us and what we can do about it.

Our Trainers
Gill Newman - Gill is a Psychological Therapist and Trainer who has been working with crisis and trauma for 35 years. She has worked in specialist Refugee and Asylum Seeker services for 12 years – with Freedom from Torture and since January 2021 with Solace. Gill was one of the co-writers of the City of Sanctuary Mental Health Resource Pack

Safaa Al-Mokdad - Safaa has been working in psychotherapy, particularly in addressing crises and psychological trauma resulting from wars. Since 2012, she has collaborated with numerous humanitarian organisations in Jordan, focusing on aiding survivors of war. Subsequently, her efforts have extended to humanitarian organisations in UK, where she is involved in assisting refugees from various parts of the world. This commitment reflects a contribution to mental health support for those affected by the far-reaching impacts of conflict and displacement.
